Established as a Provincial Custody (Vice-Province)

1994: December 20: The Indian Mission was established as a Provincial Custody (Vice-Province) by an extraordinary chapter of the Maltese Province. The next day, Fr. Joseph Cilia was elected as the first Provincial Custos.  
1995: January 23-25: The First Ordinary Custodial Provincial Chapter was held at Kolbe Ashram, Aluva.

January 27: Official inauguration of the Indian Provincial Custody at Kolbe Ashram, Aluva with Cardinal Antony Padiyara and Archbishop Joseph Powathil as special guests.

February 03: The Provincial Custody was ascribed to the Syro-Malabar Church by a decree of the Oriental Congregation.

May 12: Establishment of Padua Franciscan Ashram at Puthenchira East in the eparchy of Irinjalakuda. The canonical erection was on January 27, 1996.

November 04: Conferment of the first The Spirit of Assisi National Award by the Franciscan Centre for Peace and Dialogue (FCPD).

November 13-22: The Formators' Meeting of the Federation of Asia and Australia (FAAMC) was held in India at Kolbe Ashram, Aluva.
 
1996: February 03-12: Pilgrimage of the relics of the Vocal Chord and the Rib of St. Anthony in Kerala. Sept. 14: First M.l. unit established at Kanjoor.  
1997: April 14-17: The First Custodial Spiritual Chapter was held at Kolbe Ashram, Aluva and was animated by Fr. William Robinson, Definitor General for CAA.  
1998: March 28 - Apr. 04: The first Franciscan Reconciliation Retreat was held in Chunangamvely parish. Dec. 16: Canonical establishment of Assisi Shanthi Kendra our Vice-Provincialate at Karukutty in the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly.  
1999: January 18-22: Celebration of the second Custodial Provincial Chapter at Kolbe Ashram, Aluva. Fr. Joseph Cilia was elected for a second term as Provincial Custos.  
2000:
January 01: Millennium Night and Jubilee Year celebrations at Assisi Shanthi Kendra, Karukutty for the members of the Custody. The Jesu Krist Jayanthi 2000 memorial was blessed by Fr. Joseph Cilia, Provincial Custos.

January 27: Celebration of the first Day of Prayer for Vocations in the Custody.

November 02-12: The meeting of the Federation of Asia and Australia (FAAMC) was held in India at Assisi Shanthi Kendra, Karukutty.

November 08: The twentieth anniversary of the Order's presence in India was celebrated at Assisi Shanthi Kendra, Karukutty. The celebrations were led by Fr. Joseph Cilia, Provincial Custos with the participation of Fr. Enrique Montero, Definitor General for FAAMC and members of the Major Superiors of the Order of Asia and Australia.

December 14-15: The first Extraordinary Custodial Provincial Chapter was held at Assisi Shanthi Kendra, Karukutty. It was decided to begin the Andhra Pradesh Mission.
 
2001: June 13: Canonical establishment of Bala Yesu Franciscan Ashram at Dondapudi in Andhra Pradesh in the diocese of Eluru in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

June 28: Official beginning of our Mission in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
 
2002: March 19-21: Second Custodial Spiritual Chapter was held at Assisi Shanthi Kendra animated by different priests.

March 25: Establishment of St. Maximilian Franciscan Ashram at Christianpet in the diocese of Guntur in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
 
2003: March 18-20; 26-30: Celebration of the Third Custodial Provincial Chapter at Assisi Shanthi Kendra. Fr. Joseph Cilia was elected for a third term as Provincial Custos.  
2004: May 17: An Extraordinary Custodial Chapter was held at Assisi Shanthi Kendra, Karukutty to discuss on the formation houses. It was decided to have the Orientation Year at Padua Franciscan Ashram and to shift the Novitiate to a new location outside the State of Kerala.

July 15: Canonical Establishment of St. Maximilian Ashram at Christianpet in Andhra Pradesh by Fr. Alfred Calleja. November 8: Inauguration and Blessing of Assisi Snehalaya - our first presence in the state of Tamil Nadu - by Fr. Joseph Cilia, Provincial Custos.

December 8: Inauguration of the year long Silver Jubilee celebration of our presence in India 1980 - 2005.
 
2005: January 7: Canonical establishment of Belvedere Franciscan Ashram, Kottagiri in the eparchy of Mananthavady by Fr. Alfred Calleja, Minister Provincial of Malta.

January 23: Inauguration and Blessing of St. Maximilian Franciscan Ashram by Fr. Joseph Cilia, Provincial Custos.

February 2: Inauguration and Blessing of Belvedere Franciscan Ashram, Kottagiri by Fr. Joseph Cilia, Provincial Custos.

February 19: Canonical establishment of Assisi Snehalaya, Rottikaundanur in the eparchy of Palakkad by Fr. Alfred Calleja, Minister Provincial of Malta.

March 12: Blessing and Consecration of our newly constructed Church at Chrstianpet, dedicated to St. Maximilian Kolbe by Rt. Rev. Gali Bali, Bishop of Guntur

April 2: Fr. Mathew Purayidom took over the charge as the new major suprior of the Indian Custody.
 
2006:

January 21: Conclusion of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Conventual Franciscan presence in India.

May 31: Departure of Friar Peter Kannampuzha to Sri Lanka for the preparations and arrangements for a possible mission ‘ad gentes’ of the Custody.

July 3: Beginning of our presence at St. Paul Franciscan Ashram, Kattappana.

September 3: Inauguration and Blessing of the first part of Assisi Snehalaya HIV/AIDS care centre.
 
  Established as a Province
 
2007: June 11: The Provincial Custody was raised to the status of a Province during the 198th General Chapter of Order of Friars Minor Conventual held at Assisi, Italy from May 15 to June 20.

August 20-25: First Ordinary Provincial Chapter of St. Maximilian Kolbe Province, India.

August 21: Election of Rev. Fr. Mathew Purayidom OFMConv. as the first Minister Provincial of St. Maximilian Kolbe Province.

August 26: Official inauguration of the new Province.

September 1: Inauguration and Blessing of St. Paul Franciscan Ashram, Kattappana

November 30: Inauguration and Blessing of second phase of Assisi Snehalaya care and research centre for HIV/AIDS infected people by Ms. Supriya Sahu IAS, the Porject Director of TNSACS together with Mr. Frangisku Attard and Fr. Ugolino Xerri.
 
2008: January 25: Canonical Establishment of St. Paul Franciscan Ashram, Kattappana
